The Darwin Awards are named in honor of Charles Darwin, the father of evolution, the Darwin Awards commemorate those who improve our gene pool by removing themselves from it.

The Darwin Award for today goes to a group of thieves in the Czech Republic who decided to steal scrap metal from an abandoned factory.  They entered the factory and set to work demolishing the structure - specifically, the steel girders supporting the factory roof.  The roof collapsed down on them killing two of them and injuring three more.
